A more sustainable Life by the Blonde
We take our responsibility to the planet and the people we share it with very seriously, and we care deeply about what kind of world we're going to leave behind for future generations. We know the fashion industry is fraught with issues, and while we're by no means perfect, we're committed to change. With incremental changes for right now and larger goals for the future, our sustainability efforts are continually evolving.
We recognise that we can always do better, and holding ourselves accountable, is the first step. That's why, first and foremost, we design our clothes to be worn. A lot. Over many seasons. We're not about fast fashion; we're about high-quality, versatile pieces that will effortlessly look great in your wardrobe, season after season.
Fast fashion must become a thing of the past. Mass-produced, poorly made garments in inexpensive, impermanent fabrics, manufactured in factories belching out fumes, being toxically flown to various destinations across the globe must become a thing of the past before it is too late for our planet. The desire to meet capricious trends results in quick, shoddily produced over-production, to turn a quick profit with no thought to the longevity of a product and add to the ever-increasing mountain of waste produced by the planet.
The Life by the Blonde Capsule concept is rewriting this narrative
"It's our responsibility at Life by the Blonde to help our customers look great and feel good about the clothing choices they make. We want Life by the Blonde customers to feel good and proud of their purchases, so we have carefully considered the materials used and the processes involved in creating our capsules for them. Life by the Blonde is dedicated to sustainable and ethical production and practices, and we are looking at every part of our business processes and considering ways to actively reduce waste and minimise consumption by crafting beautiful, long-lasting pieces in beautiful, sustainable fabrics that are not trend-led and will stand the test of time."

The Life by the Blonde sustainability mission
Life by the Blonde will be carbon neutral by the end of 2024. We are re-looking at all aspects of our business operations, from packaging and labelling to production and processes and measuring and reducing emissions at every stage.
"Buy less, buy well, make it last"
Vivienne Westwood
This is the core of what Life by the Blonde do. We make the best clothes we can, not the most.
Do more with less
We strive to make the best clothes we can, not the most.
Our limited-edition capsules are produced in small quantities. We like to offer each new capsule to purchase at a private pre-order event for existing customers and subscribers. It rewards our loyal customers and ensures we have very little wastage; we only want to produce what we need to avoid holding any excess inventory. Pre-selling helps us determine the sizing and discover the most popular colours, so we don’t waste fabrics, dyes, buttons, thread and zips. Love is in the air
Whom we work with is important to us. We love to work with suppliers who share similar business values and ethics, from sustainability and environmental impact to how our suppliers treat staff and interact with their communities.
We are also taking a close look at our fabrics and designs and collaborating with external sources to protect the planet we inhabit.
SeaTrees
With holiday, travel and the ocean at the heart of the Life by the Blonde lifestyle, we joined SeaTrees to give us a platform to give back and protect the seas in which we all swim. The ocean is the real hero in the story to reverse climate change. https://sea-trees.org
Sequal
Sequal produces our swim short fabric, which is made 100% from plastic bottles reclaimed from the world's oceans. Sequal Initiative is a community of individuals, organisations and companies working together to help clean our oceans, raise awareness of the issue of marine litter and highlight those helping to fight it. They have taken over 200 tons of marine litter and transformed it into sustainable and recyclable yarn.
Tessuti di Sondrio
Many of our fabrics are woven in Italy by Tessuti di Sondrio. They create our finest linen fabrics for us and have worked tirelessly for several years to make sustainability the heart of their business. From green roofs on their factory buildings, they are reducing water and methane usage to building community programmes for staff and using environmentally friendlier dyes.
We design in London, and to cut down on our carbon footprint, the entire collection is produced solely in Portugal, with all fabrics either knitted or woven in Italy or Portugal.
We love linen
Most of the Life by the Blonde capsules are produced in lovely linen. Linen is one of the most biodegradable and environmentally friendly fabrics in fashion history, making it not just super stylish but also a thoughtful choice for helping the planet.
You may want to relax and take your time lounging in your linen shirt, but linen wastes no time, taking only 100 days to harvest (whereas cotton can take up to 180 days.) Whilst you relax with a Negroni, linen requires very little to survive, with rainwater and humidity providing all the water it needs to survive. (Only 6.4 litres of water are needed to produce a linen shirt—compared to 2,700 litres for a non-organic cotton shirt) Linen may feel soft on the skin, but it’s a tough cookie and is one of the most durable fibres, lasting longer than other clothing, and washes well, ensuring it will continue to look amazing in your wardrobe year after year.
